About
This one-hour workshop, geared towards scientists and scientists-in-training, will provide participants with a neurodiversity-affirming framework for addressing burnout. By the end of the hour, you will: Reframe the Reality of Burnout: Understand burnout not as a heavy workload issue, but as the logical consequence of neurodivergent professionals navigating systems designed for neurotypical standards. Identify Root Causes: Analyze how sensory overwhelm and the persistent physical and emotional labor of masking drive professional exhaustion. Recognize Early Warning Signs: Learn to identify specific "pre-burnout" indicators unique to neurodivergent individuals before they reach a point of crisis. Develop Personalized Resilience: Move beyond generic self-care to implement individual energy-protection strategies tailored to specific neurodivergent needs. Advocate for Systemic Solutions: Identify institutional shifts—such as sensory-friendly environments and flexible scheduling—that create a sustainable and inclusive workplace for every employee. Please reach out to trainings@divergentpathscounseling.com if you have any questions. Originally presented live on March 11, 2026, for the Young Members Group of the American Nuclear Society.
