Therapy for Gifted Adults & Teens

Being gifted or twice exceptional comes with many wonderful strengths and abilities. At the same time, you may be struggling with perfectionism, low self-esteem, executive functioning, loneliness, emotional overwhelm, or numbness. Working with me, a fellow gifted/multiply exceptional human, you can expect to feel deeply seen and met at the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, creative, and existential level you operate at. You will notice a decrease in your perfectionism and loneliness, and an increase in your capacity to do the things that are important to you.

I can't wait to meet you.

Common Experiences for Gifted People

Perfectionism

When we can see exactly how we want something to be, anything less than that feels just wrong. So, we might find ourselves overworking, going through cycles of burnout, or, completely avoiding projects altogether... even if we care deeply about it. We may feel so devastated and impotent.

Low Self-Esteem

Paradoxically, although we are what society calls "gifted," we may seriously doubt our worth as a human. When we've been valued so much for our 'gifts', we may never have learned how to value ourselves in other areas of our life. Because of this, we may be unable to accomplish our important things.

Loneliness

When one sees the world as uniquely as you do, it can feel lonely. You wonder: who can really get you when your inner world is so complex, intuitive, and fast. You may also find you rely on your gifts to guide relationship rather than building emotional and relational intelligence.

Executive Functioning Difficulties

When you combine perfectionism, low self-esteem, lack of relational support, and big emotions, executive functioning can become very difficult. There are so many complexities to navigate to even begin a task, never mind finish it.
